Rotameter working principle:

A rotameter, also known as a variable-area flowmeter, is a simple and reliable instrument used to measure the flow rate of liquids and gases.



It consists mainly of a tapered measuring tube and a float. When fluid enters from the bottom, the upward flow force lifts the float. As the float rises, the available flow area increases until the float reaches an equilibrium position. The float position on the calibrated scale indicates the flow rate.
